Prime Minister wounded in Slovakia

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico was injured during shooting after a cabinet meeting, local publication Pravda reported.



 


“Robert Fico was wounded after a government retreat. The attacker shot several times, he was detained by the police,” the publication says.

According to media reports, citing witnesses, the incident occurred when the politician came out to the public, after the shooting he fell to the ground.




Now the prime minister is being taken by helicopter to a hospital in Bratislava.




The offsite meeting of the Slovak government was held in the city of Gandlova, the distance to Bratislava is 190 kilometers.

Fico has repeatedly spoken out against providing military assistance to Ukraine. He also noted that he does not support this country’s membership in  NATO and will use the right of veto if such an issue is considered. In addition, the prime minister stated that Slovakia is interested in good relations with Russia and promised to take steps in this direction.
