Orban called China one of the pillars of peace
The world is currently multipolar, and one of its supporting pillars is China, said Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
He noted that the previous visit of the President of the People's Republic of China to Hungary took place 20 years ago, and much has changed since then.
“Then we lived in a world order with one center, now we live in a world order with several centers. One of its supporting pillars is the People's Republic of China. This is a country that is now already determining the course of global political and economic processes,” Orban said at a press conference with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
He stressed that Hungary has always adhered to the "one China" principle.
The Hungarian Prime Minister also noted that Budapest welcomes Beijing’s efforts to establish peace in Ukraine, since it itself has been in favor of a ceasefire and the start of negotiations since the beginning of the conflict.
“The wheel of history cannot turn in such a way that two countries become adversaries. Hungarian-Chinese relations are many decades of constant, unbreakable friendship,” Orbán added.
