On Earth, on the night of May 11, a magnetic storm of level G5 (“extremely strong” degree of magnetic field disturbance) was recorded. It occurred after a strong solar flare and became the most powerful since 2003. During the storm, the northern lights were visible in the sky over Russian cities. The solar flares were so powerful that it could be seen on the night of May 12th.
The sky over Rostov-on-Don, Crimea, Kurgan and Bashkiria turned lilac, blue, violet, green, lilac, pink, yellow. Earlier, American scientists reported that the Giant Sunspot became visible to the naked eye from Earth.
